Laxmi, the goddess of wealth has several names, like Sri,indra, kamla, padma, harpriya, rama and chanchala.
This means that she is restless and temperamental and liable to desert anywhere.
That means she can leave rich families any time.
Her temperamental comes from a curse from Ganga and Saraswati who made her prone to unstable behaviour.
Laxmi has two images. When she is with her husband Vishnu, she has two hands and when with Ganesha she has four, one hand holds a lotus, another holds a gold pitcher with mango leaves on top,and a coconut resting on them. Her two hands below are shown showering gold coins.
For this reason, she is called Lok mata because she is distributor of prosperity, millions of indian clean their homes before diwali and on day of diwali itself.
In one way diwali serves in a way of vaastu, homes get rid of waste, when they do this. This increases their living space.
There is a direct connection between waste and poverty.
So we should always keep our houses clean.
Laxmi always dwells where there is cleanliness,no waste and well lit homes.
